SOME KIND WORDS FROM GOOD PEOPLE
"Jake is one of the most promising luthiers I've ever known. I trust him to help build Birdsongs with me, and if you see me playing a custom guitar and it isnt a birdsong, it'll be one of his"
Scott Beckwith, President, Birdsong Guitars.
"I have been playing the guitar quite a bit- I run it dry through any amp, and the combination of the tone woods and pickups produce just the sound I was looking for. I really don't need any effects processors for a clean sound, and the sustain is incredible! Adding a slight chorus for some "space" is all I need to make the sound perfect! Thanks again for the great work you did on the guitar."
Greg Wolff, owner of the "Wolff Elite"

"Hey Jake, Ive been keeping up with some of your recent bulletins, and checked out your website, And Im really impressed! Not only with your guitars, but your whole attitude towards your buiseness. Your personality shows through probably more than you realize, and its great! You have a very friendly and excited attitude in everything you do and its very apparent that you love everything being a luthier involves. Your guitars look fantastic and whenever I have the means to get another bass, Im going to hit you up, So I hope you are up to the challenge! I just wanted you to know your'e doing a great job and it hasnt gone unnoticed! ~Peace and rhythm~ Stringer.
Its great to hear things like this, just out of the blue. This is from a friend who plays bass in a couple of bands here in New Braunfels. You can bet that when I build his bass, It will be something special!
"I love the finish on this guitar! It doesn't seem to get all dirty with sweat and beer stains, like a painted finish does, even after one gig! The neck feels smooth, and never sticky. The action is right where I want it, and the tone is incredible. the pickups and the wiring give alot of options, if I want a hot overdriven sound, or a bluesier tone, I can get whatever I need out of this guitar."

This is Marcus from the New Braunfels band, "Beans and Rice". They play alot of blues, classic rock and quite a few other styles, along with a bunch of origional stuff, that seems to encompass all of these styles. Check them out on myspace. ( Im still working on the link, sorry guys!) Marcus is road -testing one of the origional prototypes for the Karlin model. So far we have changed the string gauge three times, back and forth from .10-.09, and back to .10 again. Each string change going flawlessly, and with very few necessary adjustments. (Of course, a little intonation work, but thats to be expected.) I may try to talk him into trying .11s next time. I told him to play the hell out of it, and lets see what it can do. So far, it has been great! If you are wondering, No, this is not an endorsement deal. I dont like to do that. He is doing me a favor, in proving the road-worthyness of one of the first Karlins built. If this one does the job, then they should ALL do the job. They do, and they do it well. Thanks, Marcus. Keep up the good work!
"Hello Jake,
The guitar is working out great for me. I was expecting it to play and sound as good as it looks, of course, but the tone and versatility of this instrument has far surpassed my expectations. I was particularly pleased to discover what a well defined low end it has. It has quickly become my favorite guitar, and I now consider it my most prized possession. Upon close examination I was amazed by the quality and attention to detail of the build."
Hate to admit it, but this is why I build guitars! I mean, you don't go into building guitars to get rich. Its a labor of love! I am especially happy knowing that one of my most prized builds went to someone who will appreciate her for a long time!
Thanks Barry! (Proud owner of the 1st anniversary Karlin!)
"Hey Jake!,
The guitar got here last night! Many thanks for making this guitar! It sounds great, feels great, looks great! Ive had a hard time putting it down. You were right, these two guitars do make a great pair! Thanks again for making them for me.
Clark."
That was from Clark, owner of another guitar I built for him a while back. I was in the middle of making the first Estrella, when he saw it and decided to claim it for himself. Yessir, he owns Not one, but Two of these beauties!
Thanks again Clark, as always it was pleasure working with you!
