JG GUITAR WORKS
Models
(this page is being remodeled at the moment.....Please excuse the uhh, well, Its just not quite right yet...)

Welcome to the models page. These are the guitars I have designed, and built from the ground up. I used what I know it takes to make a great playing, and sounding guitar, and put my own personal touches on to make it a unique, one of a kind tone generating machine. Here is a little about what makes these guitars special.
Oil finish is typically the way I like to do things, but laquer can be done. I just prefer oil, because I feel that the beauty of wood is something that should not be covered up with a plastic looking finish. Also there is some debate to whether or not sound transfer is different through oil finish compared to laquer. While I would'nt consider it to be a significant difference, I have finished a couple guitars in laquer, and I can hear a small difference. But that could also just be my imagination.( still beautiful sounding guitars, just a different kind of beautiful!) Also, oil is much better for my own health, and that of the environment.
Incase you were wondering why there is no logo on the headstock, its because I am not building these guitars for myself (well, maybe that one!) I am building them for their future owner. I put my logo on the back, towards the heel. I am just not a big fan of clutter and fancy handwriting. I would much rather see more of what the guitar has to offer. Which is why I always try to match the headstock veneer to the body topwood, and make a truss rod cover out of these woods too.
The neck construction is designed for strength, stability, and tone. I laminate my necks, which greatly increases their ability to withstand stress, and helps to prevent warping. I put a small pyramid shaped volute under the headstock, adding wood to that crucial area of the neck. I use a set-neck design, as I feel it is one of the best ways to improve sustain, and structural stability. I will also do bolt on and neck thru on any models other than the Karlin.
People have asked, why would I pay 1400-2000 for a guitar when I can just go and buy one at any local music store for anywhere between 200 and 800 dollars. To those people, I say go for it. Because they are the ones who could care less about hand made craftsmanship. They don't mind a cookie cutter instrument plopped off an assembly line. I know, you've heard this shpiel before, but its true. There is just something beautiful about a guitar that has been built from the same pair of hands, from beginning to end. It feels different. It plays different. It sounds different. Different in a beautiful way. If you are the kind of person looking into hand built guitars, you are doing so because you want it to mean something to you. you want to pick up that guitar and fall in love every time. I know that when I pick up any production guitar, no matter how nice it is aesthetically, I still consider it expendable. I just don't feel it. Not every one JG Guitar feels the same. They all have excellent playability, outstanding tone, incredible versatility, and did I mention, they are not too hard on the eyes either? You know why you are looking at hand built guitars, and I know that you have heard all of this before. And in doing so, you have also noticed that my prices are more than fair, considering the joys and pains that go into building each guitar, one at a time. Of course, there is Much more joy than pain. No lie, I love what I do. I hope that I can do all of this for you, so you too can feel the difference that quality hand craftsmanship and personal attention make.

Base price depends on model. Upgrades are extra. Shipping and case not included.
CUSTOM DESIGNS!
Custom work / one-offs are also available. I do charge a $150-250 design fee, unless that is already worked out, and proven to work.
I love making custom guitars that reflect the person playing them. I feel that if you are paying above import prices for a guitar, you should be able to have it the way you want it. I understand that my designs are not for every body. Thats cool, We can make something that says "this is my guitar!" standard pricing applies, unless I am involved in the design process. Fee as stated above.
