JG - about
|
My name is Jake Goede, and I build handmade electric guitars for the player who wants something different, but still wants a traditional feel. These guitars are 100% made by hand, from the block of wood to the finished product. I take pride in my methods, and in the fact that I don't churn out guitars by the hundreds on conveyor belts or anything like that. I carve the necks by hand using a spokeshave, rasps, and other simple hand tools. I do the same with the body. I could very easily use methods to speed up production, but I just like doing it this way.
I have been a player and guitar enthusiast for as long as I can remember, and a builder and designer of guitars for most of that time. In 2007 I attended a lutherie school, where I honed my skills, and soon upon returning home, I went to work for Scott and Jamie of Birdsong guitars (Thanks for everything guys!) I learned quite a bit in the time I spent with Birdsong. They still help me to this day, and I try to help them whenever I can.
I have spent several years in the sign buisness, (both as a neon bender and welder/fabricator) Pretty much my entire working life. The time spent building signs has taught me to use my hands, and to create things meant to be seen. Being a guitar player for so many years, I naturally know what I want in a guitar. The combination of these things has culminated in my current profession, Lutherie. Making an instrument by hand from start to finish gives the builder an opportunity to let the guitar become what IT wants to become. They each have their own personality, so to speak.
I build guitars of my own vision, and with my own style. This does not mean I wont build it the way you want it, It simply means that you are getting a JG Guitarworks guitar. I do Not make claims that these guitars are "above all else", or "governed by a higher power", or "better" than any other builders guitar, or, "the most technologically advanced of all electric guitars". I also do Not make these guitars to be fancy shiny wall hangers, that nobody will ever take out of a case. I simply build guitars made from materials provided by mother nature, from scratch, and 100% by my own two hands. I intend for my guitars to be played, and loved for what they are. Natural, organic, simple, and beautiful Tone generating works of art. Not to mention, they are very playable, and extremely ergonomically designed.
In short, these guitars are something completely different, and may not be for everybody. But if you are into something chock full of mojo, that was built with pride, that also just happens to play and sound Great, these guitars are it.
Thank you, and I hope to hear from you soon!
Jake
